PHRC 2026 (Planetary Health Report Card)
What is PHRC (Planetary Health Report Card)?
The Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) was developed in 2019 as a criteria-based tool aimed at evaluating and improving content and practices related to planetary health in healthcare educational institutions. Initiated by students at the University of California School of Medicine, this initiative aims to highlight the strengths and areas for improvement in environmental sustainability within faculties, raise awareness of planetary health, and encourage both students and institutions to take action and promote environmental awareness.
In each participating institution, student-led teams mentored by faculty members evaluate their faculties according to the PHRC criteria. Collaboration with academic and administrative units is maintained throughout the process; the findings are shared in an international report published annually on Earth Day. This allows institutions to track their progress in planetary health and sustainability on a global scale. The concept of "planetary health" encompasses the multifaceted impacts of the environment on human health. These impacts include: Climate change manifests itself through factors such as air and water pollution, biodiversity loss, land-use changes, and natural resource scarcity. As a result of these changes, the spread of infectious diseases is expanding, premature deaths are increasing due to air pollution and extreme heat, and mental health problems are becoming increasingly common. Therefore, as future healthcare professionals, we need to both understand the effects of human-induced environmental changes on patients and learn practices that will minimize the environmental impact of healthcare services.
Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy bears the responsibility of being the first pharmacy faculty in Turkey to participate in the PHRC process. Starting from the 2023-2024 academic year, our PHRC team, consisting of our students and academic advisors, will continue to evaluate our faculty and curriculum according to PHRC parameters every year, as it has done this year, in order to increase awareness of planetary health, contribute to sustainability goals, and instill an understanding of environmental responsibility in pharmacy education.
We believe that being part of this initiative will make valuable contributions to our education, our future, and our planet by raising awareness of planetary health in health education.
Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy PHRC Report
PHRC evaluates institutions under five main headings:
1. Curriculum
2. Interdisciplinary Research in health and environmental fields
3. Community Outreach & Advocacy
4. Support for Student-Led Initiatives
5. Campus Sustainability
As a result of these evaluations, Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy's grades increased from D+ in the 2024 report to C in the 2025 report and to B- in the 2026 report.

You can also examine Hacettepe University's position among all national and international pharmacy faculties participating in PHRC (the leaf symbol next to the university names indicates that we received a higher score in the 2025-2026 period compared to the 2024-2025 period, in short, that we have improved and our total score has increased).
