A new era of healthy, uninterrupted, and free drinking water at Hacettepe

The H2O Water Access Project has been completed at Hacettepe University. A new era of environmentally friendly, healthy, and free drinking water has begun across all campuses.

Implemented in line with the University’s “Sustainable Campus” and “Zero Waste” visions, all planned water dispensing units under the H2O Water Access Project have been successfully installed, and the system is now fully operational. The project, which provides students and staff with free access to healthy, clean, and sustainable drinking water throughout the campus, has been completed in all phases and put into service at both campuses.

Aiming to minimize the consumption of single-use plastic bottles, reduce the ecological footprint, and prevent waste at its source, the H2O Water Access Project has been carried out within the framework of the University’s Sustainable Campuses goals and Zero Waste Strategy. Equipped with advanced purification technology, the modern units provide uninterrupted, safe, and hygienic water service, reducing the use of plastic bottles and offering both an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.

The Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, stated:“Our University aims to continue enhancing campus life quality through student-centered projects, strengthening environmental awareness, and taking innovative steps toward a more sustainable future. With the H2O Water Access Project, we are adding another improvement to the many enhancements made in our students’ living spaces. Within the scope of the project, which aims to provide our students with both economical and healthy access to drinking water, students will also be able to obtain hot water from the same units.”

In line with student density and accessibility criteria, 200 purified water dispensing units have been carefully installed at accessible points across all our campuses  from libraries and academic buildings to common study areas and student dormitories. Our students can find out where the units are located on campus through the Campus Maps available in the HuMobil mobile application.
