It is known that waste has become a significant component of the environmental crisis today. Increasing population and consumption habits lead to an increase in the amount of waste, as well as problems such as depletion of natural resources, water and soil pollution, biodiversity loss and climate change. Issues like plastic pollution in oceans and landfills and the harmful effects of electronic waste on the environment and human health highlight the environmental impacts of waste. Therefore, sustainable waste management strategies have become an important part of environmental conservation efforts. Effectively managing and recycling waste contributes to the conservation of natural resources, energy savings, and reducing carbon footprint, thereby helping alleviate the environmental crisis. As a result of the work carried out in this direction, March 30 was declared as International Zero Waste Day.
As part of the International Zero Waste Day on March 30, a seminar titled "Waste Free Life" will be held online by Author and Green Content Creator Ceren ÖZCAN TATAR on March 29, 2024, from 11:45 to 12:45. All members of the Hacettepe University are invited to attend.
